Two officials of OSCE have sent a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (red. Elmar Mamedyarov) regarding the imprisoned youth – Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade – and expressed their concern. The Secretary General of the OSCE Marc Perrin de Brichambaut has told this to the journalists in Baku.

“Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the representative for media freedom have written a letter about the issue. I have referred to that letter while meeting with Azerbaijani officials and emphasized a fact that supremacy of law must be respected in all OCSE member countries and the obligations must be fulfilled.” But the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elkhan Polokhov says to the radio Freedom that the ministry has not received such a letter. The young activists Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade are sentenced to two month being condemned in hooliganism. The lawyers, family and friends of the youth claim that they are arrested because of spreading materials in the internet criticizing the government.

Answering the question of the radio Freedom’s reporter on weather they have discussed the arrest of young bloggers while meeting with Ilham Aliyev, the Secretary General of OCSE said: “I wouldn’t like to violate the confidentiality of my discussions with the President. But I think there is no need to remind once again to the Azerbaijani officials that the standards and obligations of OCSE must be fulfilled.”

Brichambaut says that they carry out a dialog on the arrest of young bloggers via the director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the representative for media freedom.

“I hope Azerbaijan will respect the obligations taken in front of the OSCE. I hope my point is understood.”
